I first noticed artist Simon Henwood’s work on the cover of Roisin Murphy’s album Ruby Blue. He does some really amazing work and his paitings of Roisin Murphy are so beautiful. All of his work has a sort of ugliness about them but are at the same time extremely beautiful.

Whenever I go to London I go to Sainsbury’s and Waitrose to look at the lovely packaging design. That’s how I “met” Pearlfisher who is the design agency behind a lot of them.

Last week I was blessed to go to London for the yearly St. Bride conference. This year the subject was “Seeking Inspiration” and I was really inspired by Lizzie Ridout’s lecture called “Collecting Beginnings”. It was so exciting because she had made an entire project ( kind of a book called “Thirteen things that I want to say”) out of all the little inspiring facts that she found in a library, from victorian hairpieces to family photos. So the end result was merely a lot of inspiring beginnings. Definitely a process that everyone could learn from doing themselves.
