Bendita Gloria is a small Spanish studio made by Alba and Santi who met at design school. I recently came across their work and I am quite intrigued. I love the way that some of their work just look like it’s been Xeroxed on to bad paper and it just looks great!

I came across the Brazilian illustrator Speto a few years back when I stayed a night in a room he decorated at the Hotel Fox in Copenhagen. When I recently came across him again it was a happy reunion. I really love his style, although he comes from a graffiti background his work is so much more.

I recently came across a cool little animation by dutch agency KesselsKramer and went straight to their website to see more. I must say I was completely speechless upon entering their site as I had somehow ended up on a site for western hats. So I checked the link again and this time ended up on a site with lots of beards. That’s when I got it, and it totally cracked me up. I think I can safely say that their website is the worst I have ever seen, but also one of the funniest. What amazes me is the amount of work that has gone into making these horrible sites. I don’t know how they ever get any clients, but at the same time I am TOTALLY lovin’ it! I wonder if anyone smoked a biiiiiit too much Amsterdam weed. Hit refresh a few times and see what you hit. You will be equally amazed by their office in a former church.

I came across Katja Schloz’s work in the 100 Beste Plakate book. I really love her posters as they are really interesting visual experiments often with use of creative techniques and materials. She has also done a briliant project in old dot matrix print which is a fave of mine after I did an entire annual report in dot matrix.

My goodness! It’s been a busy week and weekend. We had admittance test at work so I had to work all weekend, but it was fun seing all the young talented people applying. But let’s get back to the inspiration. I came across UK illustrator Own Gildersleeve who does GREAT things with paper. I do always love things that are done by hand and combined in the computer. Great work!

I was looking through new fonts at My Fonts and came across GHS. I must admit I have a weakness for fonts with contextual features and this one has a clever swash feature which makes wonderful ornaments of your words…mmmmmmm! It reminds me a little bit of Marian Bantjes work and that is definitely NOT bad company. I also really love the contrast in the letters which gives it a neo classisistic touch but the shape of the letters still makes it totally modern as well.
Download the PDF font specimen and have a look for yourself.

Sam Green is a very talented London based illustrator. I can’t quite categorize him but it might make sense to say that his style is somewhere in between old illustrated medical journals and fashion illustrations. Makes sense right? Anyway, check him out!

If you’re a fan of Julian’s “So you need a typeface” then look here! The famous flowchart is now available as a poster and it is essential to everyone who calls themselves graphic designers. Julian, if you wanna suck up to your professor you’ll give me one for free which will decorate my already crowded office :-) but for all you guys out there HERE’s the place to get it!

I recently came across the work of Blend-It a design studio from Israel. I don’t know any other designstudio from Israel and I think it’s so great to discover something new so I just have to feature them. I really love their packaging work, there’s no superficial designer bullshit, just really straightforward great work.
