I have shared pieces by Stefan Sagmeister with you before but I just want to share this one which is amazing. I heard him speak about it last year and it was so inspiring. The sentence comes from his list of things he has learned in his life and is made of more than 200.000 1 eurocents on a square in Amsterdam. The piece took 8 days to produce and the idea was that it would slowly dissolve or alternate as people would take coins or manipulate the design somehow. Local police would have none of it though and cleared out the piece as it started getting too much attention. I love the picture of them clearing it, it looks like they’re shovelling horse manure. I also love how the concept totally fits the sentence, afterall how obsessive is it to neatly place 200.000 + coins?
Be sure to click the final image to see it bigger in all it’s glory.
