Urggghhh…I think I’ve caught the man flu, you know, the one with the fever, runny nose, constant whining and thoughts that you might die. But will just share another speaker from the conference today. Why Not Associates has been faves of mine for a long time and I’ve featured them before but they’re just brilliant and I want to show you a few more pieces that I absolutely love. These projects were done in collaboration with Gordon Young.

Yesterday was a fab day! We had our annual Type conference at our school and I was just buzzing with inspiration afterwards. My fave speaker was definitely Paul Willoughby from the magazine Little White Lies. I bow my head in admiration for anyone who does uncompromising passionate work without barely getting payed and against all odds. Amazing! And PLEASE keep it coming Paul! Good luck getting your hands on an actual copy of the mag, but you can enjoy back issues digitally on the website. You should also see the video below showing the process of creating the Black Swan issue…well, a speedy version of it anyway.

I came across these drawings by Hello Von a few days ago and was totally envious. I have NEVER been good at drawing, but I think I’m a pretty good designer anyway. Still, I can really appreciate the skill of creating these type of images with a pencil. Respect!

It’s a gloriously sunny day in Copenhagen, I wonder if spring might actually be coming….FINALLY!!! I’m really looking forward to summer, when we can sit outside and drink cold beer, except I don’t actually like beer. But I do like the idea of having one of these lovely summer Ringnes beers in my hand. Would look good anyway.
The packaging was designed by Norwegian Teipu.

A little tired today, but had a wonderful time last night at HK in Ã…rhus, brilliant crowd! thanks to everyone who showed up, very unexpected! But on we go with the inspiration :-) I have a weakness for old motel neon signs so when I found these drawings by UK illustrator Holly Wales I felt like meeting a kindred spirit. Totally loving the vibrant colours and the lively hand.

Fabric care? Sexy? hmmm….I don’t think so. So if you can make it look this good you have something going for you. Should be a lesson that you can challenge even the most boring assignment with creativity. It was designed by French designer Jean Touitou who’s website is currently undergoing revamping so do come back to it in the future.

If you love type and lettering as much as me you should sit down for this one. Have been grinning all morning looking through the work of Friends of Type. ‘A creative database of type treatments’, is probably what I’d call them to explain, but you should go browse through the endless samples of their work on the site.
