Well today is the last day of my summer break, so on monday I’m back at school preparing for a new horde of students. Beginning of the year is always great fun!
But today I wanna advertise another blog, it’s one of my faves at the moment, and if you love magazine as much as me you will love it too. Coverjunkie collects loads of covers and the great thing about that is that it’s the big wellknown mags, but also obscure niche magazines that you might never have heard of. It’s a great source of inspiration if you’re in editorial design. Thanks Coverjunkie!
Here’s just a small selection of what you can find, see more: http://www.coverjunkie.com/

I had forgotten all about photographer Gregory Crewdson until someone mentioned his name the other day. I LOVE the drama in his photos, the contrast between the beautiful and and the ugly is astonishing. LIKE!!

Check out the illustrations of US illustrator Scotty Reifsnyder. I love his quirky characters, and as you know I am a sucker for screenprints!

I rarely use this space to say anything negative, it is much better to point out the good stuff than to diss the bad. But I just can’t help it this time, this is just too much! I was standing at the newsstand the other day and my eye caught the Danish magazine Q and I thought to myself “Hey that looks familiar”. And it was! I blogged it ages ago, except it’s a cover for Esquire with handlettering by James Victoire. BAAAAAAAAD copycats!!!! Shame on you!!!

I do love the portraits by New York Times illustrator Joe Ciardiello. Especially the black and white ones. There’s just such a great contrast between the massive splashes of black and thin detailed pen lines. Jealous, can’t draw two straight lines myself!

I like these simple collages by Brooklyn based artist James Gallagher. Some of them a even quite pervy when you take a closer look ;-)

I got a tip to go see the project “Satellite Collections” by San Fran artist/designer Jenny Odell and what a great project! This shows you that you can make cool stuff out of anything if you just think creatively. Jenny has collected pieces from Google satelite view and put them together in various collages. LIKE!!

So it hasn’t been a proper trip to NYC if I haven’t spent endless hours at Barnes & Noble browsing bookcovers. So here’s the low down, a good handfull of stuff I liked in no specific order:
