I love when people I admire write me to tell me they’ve updated their websites. It’s so exciting to see new things and follow the development of someone’s style. I got one of these messages the other day from one of my all time fave illustrators Spencer Wilson. He was one of the first people I featured here and I kinda gave him a hard time about his old website, sorry Spencer ;-) But now the site is updated with lots of new work and it’s so cool to see the new stuff. REALLY vibrant colours and still great compositions and characters. Totally uplifting!

I have fallen in love with a new font by Paul Barnes. It’s called Marian and it comes in a huge variety of romans and italics, even a black letter version. Don’t know where the name comes from but I wonder if it’s a Bantjes homage. There is something about it that reminds me of her work.

Look at this fantastically luxurious range of perfume from Humiecki & Graef. They’re really expensive but I think they’re so pretty and elegant with a hint of a time gone by.

It’s been a few times now that I’ve seen an illustration I really liked and when I’ve looked at the credit it’s Swedish illustrator Petra Börner. So It’s about high time I feature her. Some of these are papercuts and I think it makes for such simple but lively shapes. The colours are out of this world too! LOVE!

Being a big fan of hand lettering I am also a big fan of Joel Holland. I keep wanting to practice my handwriting just never get around to doing it. Am I the only one whose once pretty handwriting now looks like 5 year old’s?

I guess Jaime Hayon might be on the outskirts of what I normally post but to me he’s so inspiring and since this place IS about inspiration I’m thinking why not? His stuff is AMAZING and I’ve been drooling over his ceramics for ages. They’re just sooooo pricy, a little out of my range, but I guess they’d be worth living off spaghetti for. Even his sketchbooks are a treat.

Today is make it or break it day at our school aka. the admittance test. House is filled with young and hopeful people. A lot of exhited energy in the air! But just a quick bit of inspiration for you guys.
So I went to see Gursky the other day but there was another great exhibit on about the women of the avant garde. I was especially drawn to Sophie Taeuber-Arp. Her really simple geometric colour compositions are to me timeless. I also loved that she did craft stuff like weaving and bead embroidery.
