Whenever I go to Germany I always pick up a copy of the magazine Tush. I almost panicked when I couldn’t find it when I was in Berlin last weekend but after a bit of searching I found out that I’d been looking straight at it without seeing it, only cause they redesigned the masthead. Goes to show how much we search for that visual recognition. Anyway! I love the magazine cause I always come across photographers that I really like in it. Like Armin Morbach. Totally punch in the face style shots! LIKE!

I blogged Design Army more than four years ago and I was so happy to have my eye caught by new-ish work of theirs. Did you see the AMAZING work they did for the Washington Ballet and their ‘Alice inWonderland’? I LOVE the display type, I LOVE the photography, I just LOVE the whole shabang! If only Design Army would put more stuff on their website!

Visit them anyway: http://www.designarmy.com/

Wow! Really loving these portraits by Italian painter Andrea Ventura. I love how the sort of classic technique is paired with a really modern approach to colour. Super powerful!

How about going away for the weekend? Check in to a nice hotel and just relax? If I had the chance I would go to Porto and check in to the Casa do Conto. How lovely it would be to wake up tomorrow morning and have that beautiful concrete type ceiling be the first thing to see. Well, even if it isn’t I wish you a good weekend :-)

Here’s another crafty project for you today. I think this is the coolest project I’ve seen for a very long time and I just LOVE the original use of materials. “I don’t see it. What is it?” you might ask. And I will tell you that it’s teddy bears! It’s quite a brutal act to skin an animal and I love how that action is such a contrast to dealing with stuffed animals. The colours and contrast in the different “furs” also makes this amazing! WOW! LIKE!

Isabella Rozendaal

I was super excited to find the work by Dutch photographer Isabella Rozendaal. She astonishingly seams to catch moments in time that are beautiful with all their faults and there seem to be such a sensitive respect for the motif even if it is sometimes grotesque and not always ‘pretty’.

Ohh how I love to discover fellow crafters and German Katrin Rodegast is definitely one! Her quilting project totally blew me away. It’s so well done and visually very strong too. She also does the most amazing little porcelain figures.

Frank Höhne

A little tired this morning cause I was in Berlin over the weekend to see Radiohead play there. What a great time I had! I miss Berlin already mainly because I envy the Germans for having words like ‘klimatisiert‘ and ‘knusprig’ ;-) Awesome language!

SO! I should blog something German today and it will be illustrator Frank Höhne who is the most fabulous of all fabulous. I LOVE his style, seams to be a big pile of doodles but composition-wise he totally rocks too and he has a WICKED sense of humour.
