If I say there’s a place called “Chocolate Research Facility” what do you say? Dreamjob? Yep, me too! But this is actually a shop/café in Singapore and the Singapore based studio Asylum did the visual identity for it all the way from the shop interior to the packaging. Look how yummy it is!

Yes yes yes, you’ve probably had more than enough to drink over Christmas and New Year’s but I just have to show you one more alcohol related post, so enjoy a drink with your eyes instead of your mouth. A group of Icelandic design students did this line of beer as a student project and I think it turned out really good.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! I wanted to do a round up of cool champagne bottles to wish you all happy new year but it just so happens that there aren’t actually that many attractive champagne bottles out there! Very strange! It seams champagne bottles/labels hasn’t undergone the same revolution as other wine. So here’s one of the heavyweights in winepackaging for you instead. Australin studio Mash has done SO many great designs.

I’ve been a lazy buggar the last few days enjoying Christmas break. But I need to get back into gear right? So here’s one for you guys. Check out Antrepo4, you might recognize their container colour posters which were big on ffffound but I am also really fond of a project they did reinterpreting commercial packaging, in a minimalistic way. Don’t you just SO wish the Scweppes bottles looked like that???

If you had a bit of a boozer over the weekend than this post might make you feel a little nauseous but I just have to show you the UK studio Stranger and Stranger. They’ve found a niche for themselves in making packaging design for alcohol and they do it very well. Just look at the samples below. I fell totally in love with their work for Kraken Rum.

It seams I have a slight fixation on perfume this week cause I’m gonna share one more with you today. This project is done by Ah & Oh studio. They took characters from great and dark litterature and made this line of men’s fragrances. Loving it! I think it’s totally masculin, but also fun with a dark and quirky twist.

At the beginning of 2009 Karl Lagerfeld predicted that BLING was dead. The financial crisis made way to a new sense of style that Mr. Lagerfeld called “The New Modesty”. I think he was absolutely right then in foreseeing that the crisis would have impact on the way we dress and style over all. So maybe we can take one of the latest trends as a sign of the crisis coming to an end? Either way, there seams to be a trend in bling-ing up perfumes at the mo. Am I the only one who thinks the Michalsky and the Marc Jacobs scents look very much alike? A coincidence?

Look at this new line of skincare products isn’t it beautiful? Totally clean and no fuss. I’m guessing it’s for men judging by the quite masculine design but it doesn’t actually say anywhere. Unisex perhaps. In Danish Leif is a real lad name so I’m not quite sure a posh line of products like these would do so well, but beautiful they certainly are!

I don’t know what it is about water bottles that fascinates me. It’s a simple everyday object and yet it can also be a great design object. That’s why I always collect great examples so here’s part 2 of my water bottle mania. You can see the first round up here.

Last thursday I went to a talk with Pearlfisher in Copenhagen. The event was planned by envision:design and 3X and they had done a brilliant job. Everyone showed brilliant examples and it was lovely to see so many people gathered passionate about packaging. I’ve long been a fan of Pearlfisher (you will find numerous posts here at the lab) so it was a real treat for me. I especially enjoyed the Jamie Oliver case which I hadn’t seen in all its’ glory before. It’s such a clever job, each item looks different somehow but when you see the range together it just fits the vibrant personality that is Mr. Oliver. GREAT work!
