Check out amazing Danish artist Anika Lori. I love her meticulous and vibrant installations and paintings. There is a kinda of moderne shrines about the installations and although sometimes quite dark they are very life affirming.

I’ve been a fan of Job Wouters for a long time and getting my hands on his book Letman was SUCH a treat. I HIGHLY recommend it (no, I don’t get a percentage!). The variety of the work is amazing, I really like how different styles are explored without any notable desire to be cool or hip but just to create something new and great. Success! The control of the tools used is so superior to anything I’ve seen for a long time. A bonus info: The book is set with my former student Julian Hansen’s font Zimmer.

A good example that ruin is so beautiful from Aukje Dekker. These burnt out photos are so full of stories and a great way of creating tangibility.

Something a little different today. But I just love when I can find inspiration in fields outside my own. Not sure what to call this dynamic duo, something in between product designers and artists. I came across their ‘meat on the bone’ project and was amazed with the texture and tangibility. But they’ve also done so much other great stuff always playing with what possibilities different materials have.

PHEW! Have been off the radar for a few days because I’ve been busy writing an assignments for my masterstudies. It is strange being a student AND and educator at the same time. I’m afraid I’m not a very good master student at the moment. Too many things to tend to! But nevermind that!

Here’s a great project by textile artist Debbie Smyth. It is an installation “drawn” with thread. As you might have realised already I love these kind of crafted big scale projects. Good job!

Check out the amazingly detailed and wonderfully colourful illustrations by The Bubble Process (love the name – fits their style perfectly!). The patience and amount of work that must go into these is fascinating to me.

Atelier Martino & Jaña

It is safe to say that I am definitely NOT a fan of jazz. I know that it’s a bratty attitude to say that I don’t like an entire genre but it just really stresses me out. What I do like about jazz though is the graphic design that often accompanies it. Like the work by Atelier Martino & Jaña. They’ve done so much amazing work over the years for jazz clients and there’s super nice type and publication design.
