Marian Bantjes was another favourite of mine at Typo Berlin. Her story was so inspiring, she had her own studio, with people employed, a successful business, but she didn’t feel she was where she wanted to be. So she started over. She gave herself a year to find her new way and start making money off what she REALLY wanted to do. Nothing happened. So she borrowed money and gave herself another 6 months. Then all of a sudden the phone started ringing, and one day there was a call from a certain Mr. Sagmeister asking her to work on a project with him.

Marian’s work is amazing. The degree of detail in her work is astounding. Marian herself says she’s lazy, but if this is the result of being lazy I dunno what to call the rest of us.

The project below is made of sugar, she did 6 different compositions like this. Using the same amount of sugar each time, shaking it up afterwards and starting over with a new composition. The text is one of Sagmeister’s sentences on life.
