I recently came across a very exciting project by Dutch designer Martijn Maas. He has made a graphic response to a thesis that scientific signs exist in the Koran. The project is called Allah vs. Science. I love the way he has integrated mathmatical symbols with decorations such as those in the Koran, very original!

Have a look at New York based Studio Kudos. I am especially fond of the identity work they did for themselves (which is always harder right?) But they have also done some great spatial design. Look at the signage at the Dallas Museum of art, isn’t it clever how it’s coloured on the sides?

I recently came across American designer Jordan Michael Gray. He works wonders on lots of posters with type and illustration. The style is slightly retro in the colourscale but the designs are very NOW.
See more of his work on his Flickr account.

Have a look at theese pictures from photographer David Lindsey Wade. His style is very raw, yet very aesthetic. The site uses some pretty funny technology as well and was done by the great boys at Hello Monday.

Check out fantastic illustrator and designer Paddy Mills from the UK. I love his illustrations, the way he uses digital textures combined with classic drawing techniques is very original.

I thought My Little Pony was long gone dead and burried but it seams like My Little Pony has caught on to the vinyl toy craze (of which I’m a HUGE fan). They have asked different people to design a version and I can’t say that all of them are visual treats but when some of my fave illustrators like Catalina Estrada, Jim Houser, Jon Burgerman and Toki Doki gets involved it can’t go all wrong. I only wish they’d asked Sanna Annukka.

I’ve mentioned UK packaging design company Pearlfisher before but they have updated their website with new work since so I would like you to take a moment and drop by again. Pearlfisher is in my mind some of the best in the trade, and they have buckets of designawards to back it up as well. Their recent work for Fortnum & Mason is stunning!

I don’t know that many Texan design companies but The Decoder Ring is definitely worth a visit. They have a fantastic retro American screen print kinda style and do lots of work for restaurants and such.

I’m sure you’re figured out by now that I love Japanese packaging design. Just have a look at the bottles from Nippon Design Center.
Visit Nippon Design Center.
Have a look at designer and illustrator Janine Rewell from my homeland Finland. Her work is stunning! Her illustrations are really Finnish in the shapes and lively colours and her designwork just has so many details and new dimensions.
