I don’t know many Australian agencies but the two I do know are DAMN good. Frost is one of them led by an experiences gentleman Mr. Vince Frost, but I’ve recently had my eye on MASH based in Adelaide founded by Dom Roberts and James Brown. They really do loads of very interesting printwork, they range in style but I really like the way they can do something very minimalistic but there’s always a twist. They also do lots of great ideas in finishing production.

Growing up with a Finnish mother Marimekko has always been a huge part of my home, and still is. I’m so happy that a company with as much history as Marimekko keeps reinventing itself with new fabric prints by loads of great artists like Sanna Annukka and Maija Louekari. I think the red and pink Unikko pattern (means poppy in Finnish) is probably one of the first things I remember thinking of as being beautiful. But all the Marimekko patterns, old and new, are really inspiring to eveyone working in graphic design. Just look at these stunners.

You don’t hear about Polish studios that often but Poland has a rich visual culture, their movieposters are amazing! Here’s something never though. Have a look at these wonderful soda bottles. Such a light expression, and the abstract bubble pattern is of course perfect!

I love good old retro logos and the shapes are really coming back again. Just have a look at these cool old numbers from Scandinavian companys from the 60s and 70s. A great set from Oliver Tomas!

The other day while shopping online (busted!) I came across H&M’s home collection. I was surprised to find some pretty cool and contrastful photos to show their products from their best side. A sweet coincidence since I had just been explaining about colour contrast to my new students. Well here’s a good example guys.

I came across Hungarian designer Aron Jancso completely by accident the other day and was so happy. Here’s some really original and experimental typework, I really love the play with contrast and shape in his work.
See his set on Flickr.

I came across some lovely calligraphy the other day from US artist Leigh Wells. I love it when it’s a bit wobbly and with lots of personality.

Stumbled right into this one while I was looking for something else, so must show you the lovely packaging of Miller Harris, perfumer Lyn Harris’ fragrance company. Aren’t they so lovely and warm? I love how you can tell they are exclusive without them being ice cold and designery, if you know what I mean…

I’m addicted to the new season of Mad Men, while I was in New York they had a casting for a walk in and I was dead close to joining the 15 minutes of fame sheep before I had a reality check, I’m a designer, not an actor. Although I do pull of that style quite well with loads of vintage dresses. Anyway, these days I am loving everything retro American so when I stumbled across two great pin up illustrators I was sold. Yeah yeah, it’s degradig to women blah blah, but it’s HOT! Just check out these pieces by Gil Elvgren and Harry Ekman.

I stumbled across these lovely soap packages from Fringe Alchemy over at Lovely Package and I just had to share them. The thing is that I would never have the heart to unwrap these, the packaging is just to pretty to ruin.
