I came across a few collage pieces by New York based Charles Wilkin a.k.a Automatic Art & Design. I love his personal work, really well executed compositions and lots of texture and contrast.

Carl Kleiner

Since I recently had my kitchen done up it has become my fave place in my apartment to be. Have even started baking most of the bread I eat  myself which is something I NEVER thought would happen. So I’ve become something of a recipe experimentalist. That’s why I can’t resist sharing this Carl Kleiner project with you even though I’ve almost just featured him. He made these great photo illustrations for a recipe book for IKEA and I think it’s a briliant way to show ingredients. I know I’ll be trying out some IKEA recipes in my new IKEA kitchen. Get cracking everyone!

PS. No, IKEA isn’t sponsoring Inspiration Lab ;-)

OK GO

If I said ‘choreographed musicvideo’ did you say OK GO? Well, you should, cause they sure are masters of this dicipline. It started with treadmills, moved along with dominos and paintsplashes and now some serious dog trainining has been taking place. Just watch the video below, it will put a smile on your possibly pre-caffeinated face this morning. Watch out for the naughty goat towards the end, super funny!

Even though I am a total romantic I don’t think I’ll ever get married. 1) Because it would mean that my parents had to co-exist in the same room for more than 5 mins. 2) Because I will never be as good a calligrapher as Betsy Dunlap and would therefore have crap invites ;-)

I featured Betsy as one of my very first posts here on Inspiration Lab, but she has done so much great work since (even a few tattoos!) so I think it’s time to have another look. I LOVE her lively style!

Husk Mit Navn (remember my name) is one of my fave artists, so when my better half moved in and brought two pieces with him I was more than happy to clear some wallspace for them ;-) I love the quirky characters and simple colours and I just can’t help but smile whenever I see his pieces.

I got a wonderful mail from Dines and I think he deserves a mention. With lots of great clients and really inspiring techniques in his digital collage work on his website I think he’s worth checking out.

Kilogram

You don’t get much in this world for free, except your daily inspiration kick here at the Lab AND this great display font called Kilogram. I came across this little number over at Smashing Magazine who did a list of great free fonts and it was instant love. It is designed by Norwegian Karl Martin Sætren a.k.a. Kalle Graphics and yes, it is FREE! Super nice type specimens too.

Download it here, and don’t forget to say thank you.

Uhhhhh! One of my faves has updated since my last visit to his online home. I am talking about the information master a.k.a. Nicholas Felton. There’s lots of new infographics on his site for you to enjoy.

I love the new artwork for Skunk Anansie by UK studio Shotopop Ltd. It is a great mixture of illustration and photography and I think it really pinpoints a trend in photo and illustration cross overs.

Adidas

It probably comes as no great surprise that I am a woman who like, no LOVE shoes. So when I brought home a pair of Adidas Originals Nizza in yellow from Japan I was a happy camper even after being humiliated in the shop due to hysterical laughter from sales person after seing the size of my feet (yes I DO know they are mens’ shoes, yes I DO have big feet and yes you probably COULD fit a small Japanese family into one of my shoes). That’s why I love this animation for Adidas Originals that Frame and Sid Lee Amsterdam did, Eduardo, did you throw some of your magic dust on this one?

Aren’t the yellow shoes just fab?!?!?!
