A few lovely illustrations today from Russian illustrator Ei Ka. The vibrant colours and textures really work well I think.

I know I don’t blog ads that often but I just have to share this Nike ad which I think is so briliant. Having personal experience with Nike as a client I can definitely say that they are not the easiest of clients, so I was very happy to see them take a chance on something a little more edgy. This definitely makes me wanna strap on those running shoes and get started!

The other day I went to see the exhibition Otherworldly at MAD in New York. It is a strange collection of miniature scapes but definitely worth seeing. The craft of doing these pieces is nuts! Here’s just a few images I snapped on my iPhone.

See more on the exhibion.

While in New York I’ve discovered Belgian illustrator Raphaël Vicenzi aka My Dead Pony. His work for the cover of the “Illustration now: Portraits” really caught my eye. I like the splashes of colour and the combination of doodle like styles.

Am a little behind on the posting as I am enjoying scorching summer in New York. But I HAVE to share the McQueen exhibition with you as it is the most beautiful, sexy, creepy and inspiring thing I have ever seen! I actually cried when I reached the end of it! Has never happenede before. It’s at the Met and you should walk through burning coals to see it. These photos doesn’t really do it justice as the exhibition design in itself is also breathtaking (you can see a bit on one photo below) but you kinda get an idea of the pieces. The man was a genius!

See info on the exhibition and a few more pieces: http://blog.metmuseum.org/alexandermcqueen/

Justin Lortie

I somehow ended up on the website of Justin Lortie, a Canadian design student (I think?!) and I really liked this project that he did which is both a poster and a magazine sleeve. I like how it’s kind of a mess, but there’s a strong contrast in the type and I like that it looks like it’s been thorugh some sort of mathmetical formula or like finetuning an old tele. Good job!

There seams to be a trend of hotels hiring illustrators to spiff up their rooms with a bit of handdrawing, and I like it! I’d definitely like to stay in this room at the Ace Hotel by Timothy Goodman in New York…speaking of which, guess where I’m going today! ;-)
