Am I the only one whose handwriting has gone totally downhill and now looks like something a five year old could have written? I think all this computer business have ruined my ability to pick up a pen and actually write something marginally pretty. That’s why I am happy to see someone with cool handwriting. Like Ulla Puggard, a Danish creative living in London. It’s cool, edgy and with lots of passion. GOD I need to practise!

Am loving these numbers by Bureau Bruneau for an identity for a Norwegian club. Somehow it’s just pretty damn sexy!

Mmmmm I just discovered the font Eloquent Pro from Veer. It comes in both regular and italic and both are pretty damn sexy. It includes some pretty cool alternative letters as well. Must buy, must buy!!
Buy it at Veer.
I’m sure that a lot creatives will agree with me that you visually need a creative and lively space to work in to do good work. At least it explains why my boring white walled office is filled with shit to inspire me. That’s why it made me so happy to discover Rudi de Wet’s identity work for the Australian agency The Furnace. Who wouldn’t love working in this space, buzzing with creativity?

I’ve featured Wink before but I just came across this new project from their hand that I really want to feature. This is a visual identity for an ice cream shop called Honey & Mackie’s and I think it says everything it should about ice cream. Puts me in the mood for scoop of strawberry right now!

I came across Beton, a small studio from Vienna, who does all sorts. I fell in love with their type specimen for their own font Elevador. The combination of the skinny characters and the thin condensed font is so cute.

OK so you saw a tiny bit of Darren Booth in the Drop Caps project but I just need to pay him tribute in his own right as well, his work is just so lovely! I love the texture in the paint while the curves are still totally sharp and clean.

I’ve mentioned Jessica Hische before but you really should drop by her Daily Drop Cap project and have a look around. A warning though, you’ll have a hard time leaving the site before you’ve seen everything and that’s gonna take a while cause this girl is productive and she’s called in the work from fellow talented “drop capper” guests. Here’s just a small selection!

I usually tell my students that inspiration can be found ANYWHERE. So when I (weirdly!) stumbled upon this website on wooden floors I figured I should put my money where my mouth is. I was really inspired by the wooden mosaics, I wouldn’t dream of having them on my floor, but with a bit of added colour I think they make a few quick and pretty collages.
Here’s the starting point (http://zilvahardwood.co.uk):
And here’s my version (gets a bit blurry scaled down so click to see):
This damn flu just will not go away, but I am going nuts at home so am back on my feet today. And looking at some lovely type inspiration will make me better I think. So here’s Studiotwentysix2, totally loving these built compositions. Am doing some real life type crochet experiments myself and will hopefully be good enough to share it with you soon.
