I was having a bit of a chat with my totally fab colleague Tine Kej one day when I noticed some great illustrations on her wall. The illustrations were done by Danish illustrator Rikke Jørgensen and I am so in love with her style. I love it when you can tell that a lot of work has gone into a piece and that’s definitely the case here. The intricate details and the overall compositions are really great!

The other day I got a heads up from illustrator Spencer Wilson which means a lot to me. Spencer was one of the first people I featured when I started Inspiration Lab and I’ve always been a fan. Since the last post he has updated his website and it is so great to see more editorial work as well. He’s still going strong!

If you’re a big business and you need a fantastic website done then Danish digital designer Jakob Kahlen is the go to guy. After ten years plus experience and having worked with heavyweights like IKEA, Magnum, Carlsberg and Missoni he knows the ropes. Jakob has just launched his new website and it’s well worth visiting as well as a testiment to how much you can do with a WordPress theme and a great programmer.

I stumbled upon these photographs by klllllllllllll aka. Kate Malykh a while ago. They are colour photos taken without a lens. I’ve been looking at them several times trying to figure out what it is that I find so intriguing about them. Finally I have come to the conclusion that I just love gradients!

Transparency (Good Magazine)

Did you ever think that infographics were boring? Then shame on you! Infographics are intricate data presented in a visual way and good infographics are so great to see as it’s a hard dicipline to do in a creative way. Look no further if you want to see examples on that. Check out the section called Tranparency under Good Magazine. Here you will find infographics communicating all sorts of data and all done quite creatively. Good magazine really is amazing and if you come across the current issue in a well assorted newsagent then you should definitely get out the cash to buy it. Everthing in this issue is done in paper by hand and it is just so great to see a concept like that unfolded as it would NEVER happen in Denmark, it’s simply too much hard work. Shame on Danish magazines!

Passion 09

On the 24th of November you have the great oportunity to come to the Danish School of Media and Journalism (that’s where I work) and be inspired. I am speaking at a conference where the profit goes to a great cause. The cause is my penniless students going to Typo Berlin next spring to learn loads more about typography and they need a bit of financial help.

The price for attending Passion 09 is 1800 kr. and for that you get 5 great speakers plus coffee, cake and lunch, it’s a bargain! We are all speaking about our passion for something we do and I am speaking about my passion for being inspired and how I keep that feeling going. Come help us make it a great day, and make the smiles on our students’ faces even brighter.

Read about the conference here. Hopefully I’ll see loads of you there, do come and say hi!

I am loving finding talented people from my homeland Finland, although I was tipped off with this one (thanks babe!). You really must check it out, I think you’ll find you haven’t seen anything quite like it before. The style is quite fresh, maybe like a surreal meeting somewhere between Klaus Haapaniemi and Mark Ryden. Oh, see for yourselves!
